Parcel BI was created to help businesses manage their parcel spend in an intelligent way. Our tools allow users to easily control many aspects of their parcel data by identifying opportunities, exposing errors, and reducing costs.
In today's blog, we are discussing how a Parcel BI client was able to use our tools to help their business correctly divide their parcel bills and data.
Their business was going through the process of being separated into three distinct units. After the transition, there were still a lot of loose ends in their accounts. They had shippers whose billing account were all being charged to one of the new entities, even though it should have been billed to one of the other divisions.
Meanwhile, the other two divisions had no idea about these charges because they could no longer access their accounts. This forced the primary entity to spend a lot of time going through their records to see which charge belong to who.
Parcel BI was able to give them the insight they needed to see what was going on and make the changes that needed to happen. They were easily able to identify which companies needed to make which payments, and so much more.
One specific area of value was being able to see the inbound and third-party shippers that were using the old account numbers instead of the new ones. Parcel BI’s send and receiver grouping made it very easy to quantify the issues, expose the suppliers that drove the most cost and allow the company to take a top-down approach to communicating new policies, procedures, and shipping guidelines. Parcel BI Alerts also made it easy to stay on top of, by proactively sending messages when there was a supplier who didn’t get the memo.
Parcel BI also allowed the divisions to act cohesively when negotiating with the carriers, because they were able to use their collective volume and data to negotiate a contract that was optimized for all of them.
Parcel BI can help companies in transitions because it can archive data from past accounts and contracts as transitions happen to new contracts. Without a tool to centralize historical data, this can be lost when a transition occurs.
