Comparing Costs with Contract Edge

Contract Edge from Parcel BI, The Analysis Tool to Negotiate Carrier Contracts with UPS and FedEx

With Contract Edge, you can compare the same contract in two different rate years, so from the demo in the video, we will be looking into early 2018 and 2019 to see how the rates impacted a shipper’s annual spend. Our tool includes rates from 2017 through 2020 to compare previous years data.

In this example, you can see that we have loaded an agreement contract from one of the major carriers into Contract Edge. Between the two years, you notice a 6.13 percent increase, but the incentives in the contracts have stayed the same. Within Contract Edge, you can view all the incentives by service as well as by the tier they are performing under.

Whichever aspects are relevant to your company; you can view and compare them between the different yearly rates and contracts.

Everyone Ships Differently

Now, the Carriers typically say that it is a 4.2 percent increase in the new year, but the reality is that it affects each company differently because those increases are distributed at different points throughout the rates. Surcharges are also increasing at a faster rate than the transportation costs.

For example, someone who is shipping a lot of letters or small packages is going to be different than someone who is shipping the same exact size, large packages.

Because everyone ships differently, the way the rate increases will impact your company can be very hard to predict on your own. Contract Edge makes it easy to predict because we use your historical information and the latest rates.
