Third-party shipping is when someone else is using your account to ship on your behalf, or you are shipping on someone else’s behalf using their account number. There are a lot of issues and costs that can sneak into your bill if you are not careful, and without the right tools to give you insight, the costs are challenging to manage.

If you give someone your account number to ship to yourself, that is shipping collect, whereas, if you give your account number to someone to ship to your customer's that is third party shipping. Third-party shipping comes with an extra surcharge; a small percentage of the transaction is tacked onto the shipping charge.

With the changing landscape of e-commerce, more and more companies are taking steps out of the supply chain and using third party shipping to get goods to end-users faster and more cost-effectively.
